Ireland and the Spirit of Halloween

This week for our culture lesson we decided to focus on Ireland. Due to the season, we thought we should explore the origins of Halloween traditions in the Celtic culture. Mr. Steven's class took a look at the different customs and the beliefs behind them. The kids got a chance to jot these things down in their passports.

My class did a fun activity based on these traditions. First we got a chance to learn how to do a traditional Irish jig from stepdancing videos. It was a lot of fun trying to coordinate moves!  For our craft we made masks of our favorite animals to get us in the halloween spirit!

It was great to learn about the people of Ireland and the origins of traditions we love.We are all excited for the upcoming holiday and ready to have fun and get dressed up!
