Arielle Lentz

Arielle most recently moved to Pittsburgh from Philadelphia, and started her journey as a yinzer with The Brashear Association in the summer of 2018. Arielle's experience with children comes from her time spent in Philadelphia Public School classrooms, after school programs, and summer camps. Arielle loves exploring, learning, and playing, and mostly partaking in any activities that let her inner kid shine through.

Dianna started working with The Brashear Association in the fall of 2012 as an aid.  She started her current position as Site Coordinator in July 2014.  Dianna lives in Allentown and is an active member of her community.  She loves children and hopes to one day open her own child care facility.  Dianna loves dancing, plants and gardening and most importantly she loves spending time with her family.

Anna Frantz
KEYS Service Corps
4th and 5th Grade Program Teacher
Anna is a graduate from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology.  This is her second time at a non-profit and first time serving with KEYS Service Corps AmeriCorps.  She enjoys videos of pygmy goats, embracing nature, and always has great snacks.  When she is not serving others, Anna is probably watching netflix or petting someone's dog.  She hopes to one day obtain her Master's degree in social work.

Alyce Donohue

Alyce has been thrilled to put her various mentoring experiences to work as a full time youth instructor here at ALEC, during her first time as an AmeriCorps member. She has a BA in Women's Studies from the Ohio State University and an extensive background in the arts. She loves crafting, comedy, and inspiring acts of compassion in youth. You can find her listening to music or borrowing somebody's furry friend while she is away from the office. 


Shannon Moore

Shannon is a student at Duquesne University with a major in Early Education and a minor in Psychology.  She is helping as a program aide in both classrooms.  She hopes to become an elementary school teacher after graduation.  When she is not working or doing school work, she enjoys cooking, reading, spending time with friends, and being outside.



Amber Rooke

Education Coordinator & Blog Administrator 
Amber has worked for various non-profits serving youth and teens from all walks of life for the last 13 years.  She has worked at the Brashear Association since fall of the 2012 and manages the Brashear Kids site and overall design. Amber's favorite part of working with the Brashear Association is spending her time playing games and laughing with the students both at ALEC and at Phillips Elementary.  In her free time she likes working on all sorts of creative projects from knitting to home renovations with her husband, playing with her pup and kitten, and tending to her garden and backyard micro flock of chickensShe blogs over on amberZon.



Megan McElhaney

Program Teacher 
Megan graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with bachelor's degrees in English literature and communications, as well as certificates in children's literature and gender studies. This is her third term with KEYS Service Corps, and she's excited to continue getting things done! In her free time, Megan reads in parks, naps in the sun, tries to get other people to feed her, and wonders if she should cut back on her caffeine intake.


Steven Goebel

Steven is a recent graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo with a degree in sociology and a minor in urban studies.  He joined KEYS Service Corps because he wanted to explore and live in an urban setting where he could serve youth, and to help him understand what he can do with his life now that he is in the "real" world.  A lover of cats, dragons, and everything in-between, in his free time he can be found reading, outdoors, reading outdoors, and/or sleeping.

Sarah is a graduate from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelors in Psychology and Sociology. This is her second time working with KEYS AmeriCorps in the Pittsburgh communities. She is excited to get to know Allentown and all of the kids of the ALEC Afterschool Program! She spends her spare time reading books, wandering through parks, and hanging out with friends and family.

Caroline McAdoo

Caroline recently just started her freshmen year at Duquesne University with a major in Psychology. She is helping Steven as a program aide in the 4th and 5th grade class. She's considering becoming a nutrition and diet psychologist after graduation. Whenever she has time to relax, she enjoys, listening to music, watching netflix, working out, being outside, shopping, and of course spending quality time with friends and family.

John Miklos

John graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in urban studies and a minor in studio arts. He joined KEYS AmeriCorps to serve in Pittsburgh communities and gain experience before proceeding to graduate school. John is thrilled to be mentoring the elementary students of the Allentown Learning & Engagement Center and teaching them about science, art, and the communities they live in. In his free time John likes to read everything, sketch to podcasts, and bike the trails of Pittsburgh.

Jen Kerr

Jen is a rising senior at Grove City College where she is working to obtain her bachelors in psychology with minors in social work and family studies.  Jen will be serving as an intern with the Brashear Association this summer.  Jen loves kids and has served with middle school and high school youth in the North Hills for many years but is excited to be working in the city this summer.  In Jen's free time, you can find her watching Netflix, crocheting, seeking adventure and drinking coffee.

Jacob Espy
Duquesne University Work-Study Program
Program Aid 
Jacob is a junior at Duquesne University, and he is majoring in psychology and sociology with a concentration in criminal justice. He has been a work-study staff member at The Brashear Association since the beginning of 2014, and intends to continue working until he graduates from his undergraduate studies. Outside of work, Jacob likes to read, hike, go to museums, hang out, and engage in conversations. But whether or not he's at work, Jacob always enjoys wearing ugly Hawaiian shirts, and cats are his favorite animal.

Mackenzie is a recent graduate from The University of Montreal with a degree in International Relations and Modern Languages.  Mackenzie joined the AmeriCorp KEYS summer program because she enjoys community service and wished to spend some time serving the city of Pittsburgh post graduation.  When Mackenzie isn't working you can find her traveling, dancing, going to the movies with friend, snuggling with cats and of course drinking coffee.

Corey Roberts McGrathKEYS Service Corps

Corey completed her bachelor of arts program in Psychology at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2011. Corey joined KEYS Service Corps in August 2014 and is taking a year off from her master of arts program in Counseling to serve for 10 months at The Brashear Association. She originally is from the Pittsburgh area and is quite excited to be back serving in her community. She loves teaching Culture Days at the ALEC after-school program and teaching the New Artists program at Phillip's Elementary. When Corey's not teaching she enjoys meditating, photography, crafting, and camping. She also sews and sells zafu cushions for meditation on her etsy site, Living by Day.

Renee completed her dual masters degree program in Communication and Theology at Duquesne University in 2006 and has been working in the nonprofit sector ever since.  At the Brashear Association, she directs afterschool and summer programming for South Pittsburgh youth.  She loves working with a creative staff to provide alternative education to students in her community.  She is also a freelance photographer, Renee Greenlee Photography, offering her services to individuals, families, and other nonprofits such as WQED-TV and A+ Schools.  When she’s not working, you’ll find her in Mt. Washington, taking walks with her dog in Emerald View Park.  She loves to travel, try new food, and explore all that Pittsburgh has to offer.

Laura joined KEYS AmeriCorps this year to experience living in a new city and doing good through service. She is originally from California and graduated with a degree in Illustration from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. She has spent a lot of time working with youth and especially enjoys teaching them art projects. She is also a freelance illustrator and has painted the covers for several books. Her work can be seen on her website, LauraRamie.com. She is often found frequenting art galleries, dancing and brewing kombucha.

Emily is taking a year off from school to serve her 10 month AmeriCorps term at The Brashear Association.  She recently graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor of arts in social work and is hoping to continue her education next fall.  She loves having the chance to work with the energetic bunch of 4th & 5th graders at Grandview and the 3rd graders at Philips Elementary.  When she isn’t teaching, she loves to travel, drink coffee, and spend time with her family and friends.

Annie is taking a year off from school to serve her 10 month AmeriCorps term at The Brashear Association. She developed her passion for working with youth over the course of two summers working as an overnight counselor at a YMCA camp in Wisconsin. She now loves working at both after-school programs and seeks to continually find new ways to engage her energetic bunch of 4th and 5th graders. Originally from Minneapolis, MN she's enjoying her exploration of Pittsburgh and taking pictures of her new discoveries. When she's not serving she loves to travel (especially via road trip) with her friends and family.

Alexis is currently getting through her second year at Duquesne as a Speech Language Pathology major. She works with Maggie as a program aide in the 2nd and 3rd grade class. Her goal is to work at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh as a speech pathologist after graduation. When she isn't working or studying she spends her time relaxing, with the people closest to her or, her favorite activity, cuddling her dog.

Maranda is a sophomore speech language pathology major at Duquesne University. She helps Annie in the fourth and fifth grade after school classroom. She loves working with kids and plans to in her future as she hopes to be a speech pathologist  in a pediatric speech clinic. When she's not working or doing school work you can find Maranda relaxing with a hot cup of tea and hanging out with the people who mean the most to her.
