Brashear Kids and g-tech held their last education lesson of 2016!  Our  lesson first focused on watersheds and what we can do to protect the species that live within them.  Unsure of what a watershed is?  See image below!  A watershed is an area of land where all the water that is under it, or drains off it, collects into the same place (Eg- a river or ocean).
Next, students were placed into groups and given a species poster to decorate.  Each poster came with a tactic to protect the species.  For example, on the turtle poster, "Turtles need clean water; build rain gardens to protect them".  Brashear Kids enjoyed decorating with ribbons, tissue, and pom-poms!
Above left: Krystal, Camaya, & Kiyanah decorate their frog poster.  Above right: Zechariah, David, Keliyah, Azare & Shane decorate their fish poster.
Above left: Hezekiah & David decorate another fish poster.  Above right: Jerzie decorates a beaver poster.
We can't wait to display these posters and further expand on the importance of conservation.
Best,
Anna
