Brashear Teens: Work Hard, Play Hard!

Hey guys! Danyelle from the Hilltop again here for an update. Our teens had a busy week learning about college/career options and relaxing with a 'movie night.' What a week!

Wednesday night we enjoyed the newer movie, Goosebumps, which was based on the book series. Most of our teens had read the books when they were younger and really enjoyed discussing the storeis and how the movie differed from the books. Some of the kids even jumped from surpise at an exciting/'not scary' moment! (They were trying to say they weren't scared, but they were freaked out at times :)

On Thursday, Brashear Teens joined forces with JFCS Refugee Youth to host a College & Career Fair at the Hilltop YMCA. Tara from CCAC and Jeanne from the CDC spoke about post-secondary options and we talked about Work Ready, the summer youth employment program.

Did you know that most famous actors and musicians have post-secondary education? Some even have advanced degrees!

Everyone learned a lot about available options for the summer and the future right here in our communities and enjoyed a banquet of pizza, pretzels, fruit, and juice to celebrate. Just as a reminder, I am more than happy to talk about any of these with you and assist with Work Ready applications when they are available in March!

Join us next week on Wednesday, Mar. 2 for healthy ice cream sandwiches! It's going to be amazing! See you there and bring a friend!
