First Snow of the Year!!

Getting back to school after a long break is always tough, but it was also the first real snow we have seen this winter! Lucky for us Venture Outdoors stopped by to help us make the most of it. We started off with a quick jeopardy review game for the kids. They got into small groups and we all answered some questions about what we had learned in the last semester.

After that we bundled up for one of the kids favorite games-the clothes relay. This game helps the kids to learn to "know before you go" and prepare for the weather before going on any outdoor adventure. Two teams line up and each get a chance to dress their model for the appropriate weather in a set amount of time. The results are usually pretty funny as the kids love piling the clothes on. This time the kids learned about how to stay warm and safe in low temperatures.

Once we all made sure we all had our hats and gloves on we went on a short winter walk. A lot of the snow had melted, but the kids managed to make a snowball or two and even found a small "ice rink" to slide around on.

Thanks to Venture Outdoors for helping us to appreciate the fun parts of winter! Maybe next time there will be even more snow for us!
