One such community member is Gail Manker, who we met through the Ujamaa Collective. She visited with all of our students, teaching them how to make Raw Caramel Apples. One of the best things about her visit was that she encouraged our students to try each ingredient, and if they didn't like it, they had to say something polite (aka "This is nasty" was not acceptable). Many of the ingredients were new to our students: coconut oil, dates, sunflower butter and agave nectar.

Date Caramel Sauce
- In a high speed blender, combine all ingredients (dates, water, coconut oil, nut butter and agave) until completely smooth. Will take about 5 minutes total. If you are having difficulties blending, simply add more water by the teaspoon full until it smooths out.
