Strong Women Strong Girls Comes to Allentown Academy

At Grandview Elementary we host a chapter of Strong Women Strong Girls (SWSG) each week for our 4th & 5th grade girls.  SWSG is a national organization aimed to empower pre-adolescent girls by connecting them to the mentors from Point Park University.  Every Wednesday the 4th & 5th grade girls will spend 90 minutes with their mentors to learn about women's history, gain leadership skills, and build self-esteem.

Last week, the mentors gave each student a paper daisy, and they had the opportunity to write why they were awesome on each petal.  The girls were able to decorate their daisy with stickers and markers as well as a flower pot to put their daisy in!  The girls really enjoyed this project and sharing with others why they are awesome.

Every Wednesday, the girls also have the chance to write in their journals about questions they may have for their mentors or just about how their day is going.  The mentors reply to each student in her journal every week, and the girls really seem to love reading the responses they receive!
