We believe it is important to spread our healthy eating initiative to other youth in the Hilltop neighborhoods. This month, The Brashear Association held the first food and garden club with the Neighborhood Learning Alliance at Arlington K-8!
Our first lesson was the ever-popular Brashear Kids tropical fruit smoothie! This is an easy and versatile recipe that kids can make at home. We used blueberries, peaches, strawberries, bananas and pineapple juice. The students had the great idea of adding yogurt and spinach in the future! They especially enjoyed adding and blending the ingredients. Check out our group picture below. Cheers!
After our smoothie was complete, they raced to finish a fun fact crossword puzzle full of banana and strawberry anecdotes! Did you know the first banana split was created in Latrobe, PA?
Stay tuned for more food adventures with the students of the Neighborhood Learning Alliance!
