For Pittsburgh schools this is the last week we are in session before winter break. Which means it's that time to get a few small gifts for those to whom you want to show a little appreciation for at this time of year, such as, teachers, tutors, bus drivers, co-workers, neighbors etc.
It can be harder nowadays, with more and more food allergies, to not go out and make a large batch of cookies to give out. We put together a few gift ideas that can be somewhat universal and to give under $5.00. Also, check out these 10 DIY Gift Wrap, Boxes, & Bows that will save you money this season.

Recently one of our students in our after school art program at Phillips greeted us with her mother after programming.  In her hand was a Hot Chocolate from Starbucks and gave it to each of us by saying "Happy December!" It was such a thoughtful gesture and made all of us feel so grateful to be working with such a great group of kids. It is the simple things. Even if you don't have time or money to give a gift, a sweet note of thanks means so much more than a gift any time of the year.
