Collaborative Art

For our last art class before break we decided to end the semester with some fun, starting off with a group selfie.

One of the most important processes in art is teamwork. Artist collaborate all the time and create great things using the strengths of each student. For our artist collaboration we got together in small groups and each group had to make one big picture using a theme. Some groups did a lot of brainstorming while others jumped right in. Our artists came up with three very different pictures. One group combined their love of Mine Craft, Star Wars, and Roman soldiers with "The Roman Mine Craft Wars" Another group drew one scene while each student assigned themselves a part. Our last group did an eclectic comic book theme with loads of different characters.

I was really impressed with how well the kids worked together and how quickly they came up with the best way to organize themselves. At the end each group presented their pictures and were able to talk a little about their process and what role each group member played. It was really different from what we usually do and it was a lot of fun seeing the creations each team made.

This has been such a great semester and I can't wait until the next one! There is much more fun and art to come. Happy Holidays from the New Artists!
