ALEC Girls are Strong!!

We are partnering up with the Strong Women Strong Girls program for grades 3-5 here at ALEC. This week was our first meeting with the mentors! They started out with a great icebreaker--Snowball. They gave each girl a question that they crumpled up and then threw up in the air. Everyone had to run and grab one then answer it out loud!

The girls also got to learn about one example of a very strong woman-- Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi. She is a feminist and a powerful story teller. Beyonce even used her words for lyrics in her song "Flawless"! We read through a short biography to learn about what makes Chimamanda a great role model.

To wrap things up the girls each wrote journals to one of the mentors about their days and then played a fun game of Sally Says with the mentors.

The girls had a blast getting to know the mentors and just hanging out and playing games. We can't wait to see what they have for us next week!
