Cans For Pets: Final Count

A couple weeks ago I introduced our spring service project, Cans For Pets, a program put on by  Pennsylvania Resource Council that we participated in to help raise money for the Animal Rescue League (ARL) here in Pittsburgh. For each can collected, Alcoa Foundation will donate 5 cents to the ARL. We chose to extend our service project to include full cans of pet food as well. With the help from our kids we serve at Allentown Academy at Grandview Elementary School, and the generous community members who have donated either empty or full pet food cans, we have finally completed our service project and the numbers are in! Drum roll please...

We have collected:
162 empty, aluminum pet food cans,
147 full cans of pet food and
1 bag of dog food!

Again, I want to extend a huge thank you to our partner in this project, Pennsylvania Resource Council for allowing us to be a part of the Cans For Pets campaign and for helping make it a great opportunity for our students to help their community.
