A Bad Hair Day at New Artists

Last Thursday at New Artists, I wanted to give our third graders a chance to practice drawing faces, lines, and patterns. Rather than have them do a typical portrait or self-portrait, I had them create their own "Bad Hair Day Portraits," sketching out the faces in pencil first, followed by black marker, then watercolors to add the finishing touches. The kids had a blast creating crazy hair for their portraits, and they loved adding their own personal details to the drawings. Check out some of their work below:
